Task 1

Location Natural Light Portraits

Okay so the point of this assignment is to create two natural light portraits using the skills that we learned in location 1.

I ended up taking photo's when I went back to the farm in NSW as we had a few really nice days of sun. While I was home my little sister turned 13 ....*sniff* and had a friend out for her birthday, and this friend wanted some actual shots that she could use to give to her mother as a present. So we set out to take these photo's and this is what I came up with:

F/5 , ISO 160 , 1/160
Out of all the photo's I took over two days (way over 32gb worth) I liked this one the most and so did the girl. In terms of lighting the sun was over my left shoulder giving slightly more light on the left side than the right side, trying to eliminate as many shadows on her face as possible as they tend to get in the way.

This next photo is my little sister, and we did a similar photo exercise like this in the studio in workshop 1 but instead of having the face pointing down we had it up towards the light to have a harsher effect. I couldn't really do this in this photo, partly because the sun was intensely bright that day for 4pm and she couldn't keep her eyes open while looking in the general direction of the sun and also the photo's I do have of her doing this the light was way to harsh for the photo I was trying to get. So I decided to take a different approach. I told her to think about all the things she will miss about being a little kid now she is a teenager and in high school. It resulted in the photo below:

F/5  ,  ISO 160 , 1/640
So there are my two natural light portraits hope they are up to snuff :)
